Webmaster tools are the best and most-used tools. It is a google product and you can use this tool free of cost.
At first, you need to sign up Webmaster tools. If you have a Gmail account you can use this service with your Gmail account.
Before finding dead links you must submit your site to google webmaster tools. You should know how to submit a site to Webmaster Tools.
Now go to Crawl and select Crawl Errors from the left side menu.
Now you can see a list and the total number of broken links. You can manually edit these links and ask google to crawl your site
How to find out broken link: Broken Link Checker Plugin
If you are a WordPress user then you can use an excellent plugin to check and remove, redirect and delete your broken link. You can also use Google webmaster tools to detect dead link or broken link.
Install and activate Broken Link Checker plugin on WordPress.
After activation, go to Tools >> Broken Links.
You may need a few minutes after activating this plugin.
Then you can see all the broken links list with different options. You can redirect, delete, edit these links with your plugin.
